Frequently Asked Questions

We're here to help. Check the answers below or contact us at support@blvckmeta.com.

Getting Started

How old do I have to be to use BlvckMeta?

You must be at least 18 years old to create and use a BlvckMeta account. Accounts found to belong to anyone under 18 are suspended (hidden from discovery and unable to post or message) — they are not automatically deleted. If your account was suspended or your birthday was recorded incorrectly, contact support@blvckmeta.com; a founder can reinstate the account after the birthday is corrected.

What are the tabs?

Porch is your home feed from your neighbors. Find helps you discover people, businesses and Service Providers. Me is your block (your profile). Pulse holds your settings, privacy controls and account tools. Mail is your private messages. Vibes are short videos. Hallway is the worldwide group chat.

What's a neighbor? What's FAM?

Neighbors are the people you're connected with on BlvckMeta. Send a neighbor request; when they accept, you can see each other's neighbors-only posts and fields. FAM is a separate list for family only. Everyone in your FAM is also your neighbor. Every new member also starts out as a neighbor of the founder's block; you can remove that connection any time.

What's my Door, and what's a Knock?

Your Door is your shareable profile code and link. When someone scans or taps it, that's a Knock, and it takes them straight to your block. You can add your Door to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, or write it to an NFC tag. Nearby Knock lets two phones in the same room find each other.

How do I change my theme?

Open your profile editor and pick a theme. Your choice syncs across iPhone, Android and the web. Homeroom (light) and The Den (dark) are BlvckMeta's signature looks, and many more themes are available. A homepage takeover or special event look never replaces a theme you picked yourself.

Posting and Sharing

How do I drop a post, a Vibe or a Story?

Tap the compose button. Choose a post, a Vibe (short video) or a Story, add your text, photos, video, GIF or poll, pick who can see it (Public, Neighbors or FAM), and post. Only use music and media you have the rights to; see "Can I use music?" below.

What is @TheBlock?

Put "@TheBlock" in a regular post and your neighbors get a heads-up about it. You can use it once a day, so save it for something that matters. Neighbors can mute your @TheBlock alerts.

Can I use music?

Yes, if you have the rights. Use your own sounds, the BASS Sound Library, or a licensed track. Don't post commercial songs in Vibes or Stories. A profile anthem must be audio you made or own, or can be picked from Apple Music, which plays through Apple Music. Copyright owners can file a notice at blvckmeta.com/dmca, and three upheld strikes remove an account.

What are Vibe stats?

On your own Vibes you can see views, watch time, where viewers came from, and which neighbors watched (for 10 days). If you don't want to appear in other people's viewer lists, switch off "Show me in Vibe viewer lists" in your privacy settings (iPhone app).

Messages and the Hallway

Is Mail private?

Mail between people using a current iPhone app or the web app is end-to-end encrypted: BlvckMeta can't read it. Messages from older apps, the Android app, or from BlvckMeta or TEAIRA are marked "Not end-to-end encrypted." If the other person hasn't set up encryption yet, your message waits, encrypted, and is delivered once they do (or after 30 days you're told it couldn't be delivered).

How does the Hallway work?

The Hallway is a worldwide group chat for adults (18+). Open the Hallway tab, pick a room by city, interest or age, and type or hold the mic to send a voice note of up to 60 seconds. Messages are translated into your language (tap one to see the original), and "Catch me up" gives you a TEAIRA recap if you missed the start. Public rooms are not private and moderators can read them; for a private conversation, tap someone's profile card and send a chat request. You can mute someone for 10 minutes, block them, or report any message from its menu. New accounts have tighter limits for their first 48 hours.

Streaks, BlvckScore and Credits

What are streaks and BlvckScore?

A streak counts the days in a row you show up, and pair streaks count the days you and a neighbor message each other. BlvckScore reflects how active and engaged you are on BlvckMeta; it only goes up and it's shown on your block. Streaks and BlvckScore have no cash value and can't be bought or sold.

What are credits, and can I gift them?

Credits are BlvckMeta's in-app currency. Buy them in the app or on the website, and spend them in the app, including on ads. You can gift credits to a neighbor; they're added to that user's credit balance to spend in the app.

Can I turn my credits into money?

No. Credits are a non-refundable in-app currency. They cannot be cashed out or exchanged for money, and they cannot be transferred out of BlvckMeta. When someone gifts you credits, they are added to your credit balance and you can spend them in the app.

What is the refund policy for purchases?

Purchases made on iOS go through Apple In-App Purchase, and Apple handles refund requests under its own policy. Credits bought by card on our website are processed by Stripe and are non-refundable once added to your balance, except where required by law. If you think a charge was unauthorized or made in error, email support@blvckmeta.com (for Apple purchases, also contact Apple).

Subscriptions and Business

How do I get verified?

Subscribe to Verified in the app, then complete the identity review: we may ask for information or documents that confirm you are who you say you are. Your badge appears once the review is approved. BlvckMeta can also grant the badge to public figures, businesses, organizations and community leaders. A badge confirms who an account belongs to; it isn't an endorsement. Verified is a monthly subscription that renews automatically until you cancel it in your Apple ID subscription settings.

How do I become a Service Provider?

Subscribe to Service Provider in the app to list your business or services in the directory and on the Hallway Map, so neighbors can find and hire you. It's a monthly subscription that renews automatically until you cancel. You're responsible for your own licenses, prices and work; BlvckMeta isn't a party to the jobs you take.

Can I sell things?

Yes, with a shoppable post. Buyers pay by card through Stripe, and the money goes to your connected Stripe account, minus a 10% BlvckMeta fee and Stripe's fees. You handle shipping, returns and taxes.

How do I advertise?

Create a sponsored post for the Porch, Vibes or both, and pay with credits or by card. Every ad is reviewed before it runs. Businesses can also ask about sponsoring a homepage takeover by emailing support@blvckmeta.com.

TEAIRA

What is TEAIRA?

TEAIRA is BlvckMeta's AI assistant, your big sister on the block. She helps you find local resources and Service Providers, get around the app, translate Hallway messages, catch you up on a room, check facts on posts and keep your streak alive. TEAIRA can be wrong, and her answers are not professional, legal, medical or financial advice. Always check important information with a qualified professional.

Safety and Your Account

How do I report a user or content?

You can report any post, comment, profile, or message directly within the app. Tap the three-dot menu (⋯) on any content or profile and select "Report." Choose the reason for your report and submit. Reports go to BlvckMeta's moderators and founders for review. Reports in the child-safety category also automatically hide the reported content and send an alert to safety@blvckmeta.com. You can also block anyone from their profile menu. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. Read the full rules in our Community Guidelines.

My account was suspended or limited — what do I do?

If your account has been suspended, you'll see a notification explaining the reason when you sign in. If your account was suspended because of your age (under 18), see "How old do I have to be" above. If you believe a decision was a mistake, email support@blvckmeta.com with the subject line "Account Appeal" within six months. Include your username and a brief explanation. A person reviews every appeal. Accounts removed for child sexual exploitation or credible threats of violence are not restored.

How do I reset my password?

On the BlvckMeta login screen, tap "Forgot Password?" and enter the email address associated with your account. You'll receive a password reset link via email within a few minutes. Check your spam folder if you don't see it. You can also add a passkey to sign in without a password. If you still have trouble, contact support@blvckmeta.com with your registered email and we'll help you regain access.

How do I delete my account?

On iOS, open Edit Profile and choose Delete Account in the Danger Zone. On Android, choose Delete Account in the app's settings. On the web, open PULSE → Danger Zone, or sign in at blvckmeta.com/delete-account. You can also email support@blvckmeta.com from the address on your account. Deletion is scheduled and your account is permanently deleted 21 days later unless you sign back in and cancel it. Deleting removes your sign-in account, your profile and its subcollections, and the posts (Vibes) and media you authored. It does not delete direct-message conversations that are shared with other people (they remain for the other person), and it may not remove your messages in hallway/room chats or comments you left on other people's posts. You can download a copy of your data first from the web app's Danger Zone. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an Apple subscription; cancel it in your Apple ID settings.

Still stuck?

Email support@blvckmeta.com and we'll get back to you.
